New members to be elected at the Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting will be held Sunday, January 25, 2009. At that meeting four new members will be elected to the Vestry for three-year terms.  The Vestry, by canon, is charged with caring for the church's finances and property.  Other issues come before the group as well.  While we are fortunate that treasurer Jerry Sill and Junior Warden Matt Krause will continue in those positions next year, they need the input and support of the entire Vestry when making decisions.  The Vestry Handbook, written by a retired priest, sums up the role of vestry members as those who participate in church activities and attend church regularly.  “Regular attendance at Vestry meetings is a sine qua non,” he writes.  It has been noted that vestry members are in many ways the eyes and ears of the church.  They are often the individuals church members contact or confide in as a conduit to the rector.  The Vestry meets monthly - meetings have been on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. for some time now - and meetings last one to two hours, depending on items that need to be addressed.  The greatest benefit of being a Vestry member is getting to work with the rector.  We are blessed with a priest who is spiritual in her approach, often a great lesson in itself.  Anyone interested in being a member of the Vestry, class of 2012, please contact Senior Warden, DJ Nash at 636-8558.
