New Vestry Meeting Room

Old nursery, new purpose

At the Parish Meeting in January 2009, Matt Krause, who was the Junior Warden at the time, announced that the property committee was ready to receive proposals from the congregation about appropriate use for the old nursery. While a couple of ideas were raised, only one formal proposal was brought to a vestry meeting. That proposal was that the old nursery be used as the vestry meeting room and that the existing vestry room be turned into an adult meeting room. Over the next several months there were discussions about how each room would be furnished. The old nursery had problems with water coming into the room during rain and had to be repaired. Brent Hemphill, our present Junior Warden, has worked with a company to lay concrete in the courtyard to hopefully prevent water from seeping into the wall. The shelving was removed and the room was painted. Through an anonymous donation comfortable chairs were purchased, and we are now awaiting the delivery of new tables. Thanks to Brent and Jeanie Bryant for their work so the Vestry and others can have a comfortable meeting space. Meanwhile, Daphne Hedges and Paula Bone are beginning to furnish the adult meeting room. This will be a room that will be a comfortable space for more informal meetings and relaxation.
