Four nominations and one appointment.

The Vestry Nomination Committee is made up of Jeanie Bryant, Daphne Hedges, Ted Koenig, and Karen Winn.  Their responsibility is to develop a four-person slate for the Vestry and two Diocesan Convention Delegates and one alternate.  There were several good candidates submitted for consideration for the slate that will be voted on at the Parish Meeting on Sunday, January 29th.

The following persons have been selected to fulfill a three-year term on the Vestry:

Alice Bernard-Jones

Alice came to Grace Episcopal Church, about twelve years ago.  Before coming to Grace, Alice was an ordained Local Preacher in the Sierra Leone Methodist Church.  She has found the Episcopalian experience very rewarding.  She has been very active at Grace.  Alice is a lay Eucharistic minister, has previously served on the Vestry, and has been a convention delegate.  She has also served on many committees, including the search committee for our new rector, and the stewardship, and the Sunday forum committees.  Alice is a British-trained corporate lawyer and works as an International Business Manager at the Missouri Department of Economic Development.  She is employed by the Missouri Development Finance Board.  She has been an adjunct instructor at William Woods University and Columbia College, Columbia.

Ken Luebbering

Ken Luebbering is a retired Lincoln University professor who has been a member of Grace Church since 1988.  He served on the vestry in the 1990s and more recently served on the rector search committee, stewardship team, and youth planning group.  For the past four years, he has served as Lay Ministry Coordinator.  As a result of that work, he believes that developing a strong vestry liaison system is necessary to support all the important ministry and mission work at Grace.  His hope for Grace is that we can continue to grow in our participation in the work of God's kingdom, being neighbors to all.

Gary Sanders

Gary and his wife Melinda have been attending Grace Church since 2008 and officially joined the Church in 2010.  Both come from a strong Catholic background having taught classes about the New and Old Testament, the Sacrament of Marriage, and both were Eucharist Ministers.  Faith is the core of their life together.  He was been involved with the Music Ministry at Grace and shares his talent as needed.  Melinda is a member of the choir.

Gary comes from an extensive musical background having been a professional musician for a number of years and obtained his Piano Performance Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Missouri in 1980.  He is an avid collector of out-of-print, 19th century piano music and believes music transcends spoken language in the ability to commune with God.  He is the Assistant Director of Special Education Finance for the Department of Elementary and

Secondary Education and has worked for the state of Missouri for the last 15 ½ years.  He is the proud father of two, very spoiled and well loved Boston Terriers, Maisy and Molly.  If you’ve got a few hours, he will gladly tell you all about them.

Bridgid Stier

Bridgid Stier, along with her husband and two young sons, began attending Grace Church in August of 2007.  One year later she was received into the church, the same day her two boys were baptized.  She has been an active member of our congregation for about four years in a variety of areas.  She has served as lector, an occasional graphic design consultant,

and helped with Vacation Bible School and is presently involved in Godly Play as both a storyteller and doorperson.  She also helps organize events for the Families with Young Children group.  Since 2001, Bridgid is working as an almost-full-time freelance graphic designer and illustrator and takes advantage of her flexible schedule to be active in her children's education and the West School PTA.

Diocesan Delegates

Nancy Belcher, who served as alternate delegate to Diocesan Convention was nominated to join George Hartsfield and DJ Nash as a delegate to Diocesan Convention in 2012.  Lisa Fox is the committee’s nominee for alternate delegate.

Sarah Schedler – New Vestry Member

Segun Winston-Webber, a member of the vestry, recently tendered her resignation. Segun has had to extend her visit in Sierra Leone because of family commitments.  She will be away indefinitely.  Please keep Segun and her family in your prayers.

In keeping with our bylaws, it is the responsibility of the vestry to elect a member of the parish to fill out an unexpired vestry term.  We are delighted to announce that the vestry elected Sarah Schedler to join us.  Sarah is a welcome addition to the vestry.  She is a member of the choir, serves as Lay Eucharistic Minister, works closely with the youth of Grace, and is an invaluable participant in several ministries at Grace.  Please join in welcoming Sarah to the vestry.
