Youth Outing to Worship with UMC Campus Group

In early December, Marc Smith and Marshall Crossnoe chauffeured a small but enthusiastic group of Grace youth to Columbia to worship with the campus ministry “parish.“ Everybody who went reported enjoying the outing, commenting particularly on the relaxed environment, how welcoming the university community was, and how beautiful Calvary is.  Cate noted that Joe Chambers was very relaxed during the service.  “He presented himself as a priest, but also as a friend there to worship too,” she said.  Marc described the evening as “an absolute joy” but says that he and Marshall are now feeling under pressure to "loosen up" and learn to preach without notes! 

Claire commented, "The service was very nice.  It was laid back and casual. The sermon was very good - about how sometimes when there is chaos around us, it tends to calm us down.  It was lots of fun and I enjoyed it very much."

Excellent pizza and conversation at Shakespeare’s after the service rounded out the evening.
