Youth Sunday School opportunities abound

by Julie Harker last modified Sun Aug 29 02:02 PM

Nursery through 12th grade - begins September 12th, 9:30 a.m.

Children ages 3 years old through 5th grade will continue with Godly Play. The lead teachers are Katherine Schedler and Carolyn Kerr for Class I and Roberta Grey and Edmond Ikeh for Class II. Both classes will begin “In the beginning”… with the story of Creation. Our teens, 6th – 12th grade, will begin a new curriculum called Episcopal Curriculum for Youth. It is developed for a three-year cycle with the first year modules being Diversity, Relationships, Spirituality, and Violence. Each session begins with prayer, scripture, and a Personal Story. The Personal Stories, written from the perspective of a young person, focus on the heart of the topic for that session. The vision for the curriculum also includes the development of leadership skills for Christian young people. Youth need to be leaders of their own lives by following Christ’s example and making choices that are best for them. Middle school and high school classes will be combined this year and meet in the Youth Room. Teachers are Suzanne Richter, Debra Greene, and Sarah Schedler. If you have not registered your children for Sunday school, please do so. See Sandy Weis for the forms. Adult Forum has varying topics throughout the year with speakers from outside of Grace Church and people within our parish. The coffee pot and hot tea are always on. All classes begin at 9:30. Please be on time to get the full benefit of each lesson. NURSERY Parents with children in the nursery remember to pick up your children for a blessing at the altar during communion. This also gives our nursery caretakers the opportunity to partake of the “Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
